Kimm’s Fountain Script

This script provides a particle based fountain with a range of options.  User choices on how the fountains work are made by touching the fountain and being presented with a dialog.  Builder choices on how the fountains are arranged and linked, which fountains can be touched, etc, are made using special words in the prim descriptions.

There are two scripts included in this package – “full colours” gives a full range of (random) colours when the user turns the colours on.  The “dark colours” restricts the range of colours to dark colours only.  Both scripts can be used interchangeably, take the same options and function in the same way.

For the most basic fountain, which starts automatically and is always on, just put this script in a prim.  For a fountain with user selectable options (as described below) write the word “dialog” into the prim’s description field.

Prims containing the script may be linked together to create more complex fountains, all controlled from the same dialog.  Multiple prims must be linked for this to work.

User options

These are all activated via a dialog (if the prim is configured by the builder to present a dialog on touch).

  • Timings – always on or random timings
  • Colours – white or coloured fountains
  • Wind – enable reaction to wind or not
  • Glow – turn on glow or not
  • All off – turn all fountains off
  • Some on – turn on any fountains designated by the builder as “master” fountains
  • All on – turn on all fountains

Builder Options

These are configured by typing the appropriate word into the description field of each prim containing the fountain script.

  • (blank) – default setting: medium  sized “non-master” fountain with no control dialog presented.
  • master – master (i.e. larger) fountain with no dialog presented.
  • small – smaller, non-master fountain
  • tiny – even smaller still, non-master fountain
  • dialog – medium sized, non-master fountain with dialog control enabled.
  • masterdialog – master fountain with dialog control enabled
  • smalldialog – small non-master fountain with dialog control
  • tinydialog – even smaller non-master fountain with dialog control
  • control – used for a prim that isn’t a fountain itself, but that presents the control dialog when touched (like a remote control).

Example configurations

Single prim fountain – always on, various sizes
– Single prim: Description = “” (blank) or “master” or “small” or “tiny”

Single prim fountain – dialog controlled, various sizes
– Single prim: Description = “masterdialog” or “dialog” or “smalldialog” or “tinydialog”

5 prim fountain – one master, four normal, with control dialogs
– Center Prim: Description = “masterdialog”
– Other Prims: Description = “dialog”
All prims contain the fountain script and are linked together.

5 prim fountain with additional remote control prim – one master, four normal
– Center Prim: Description = “master”
– Other Prims: Description = “” (blank)
– Remote Control Prim: Description = “control”
All 6 prims contain the fountain script and are linked together.
